Service to others is a core value of scouting. Pack 502 is always trying to find ways to do community service with our scouts. it isn't always easy to find ways for the younger boys. Through out the scouting year we will partner with Good Shepherd church, our Charter Organization for a few service projects. In September we will do a canned food drive collection in the Deer Brooke  subdivision. The church youth will go the week prior and hand out flyers and bags for the collection, the next week scouts will go out and collect and deliver the food back to the church for delivery to the Lilburn co-op. What a wonderful chance for scouts to help feed other children in our community!

We also help support Knight Elementary School during their school grounds clean up days during the Fall and Spring. we are giving back to the school where most of our scouts come from. 
 
At Christmas time we participate in"Operation Christmas Child". All the boys bring in small items to be placed in "Shoeboxes" and shipped to children around the world. We include handwritten notes from the boys. the boys get a great kick out of how much little items will mean to these children in need, not just toys and trinkets, but a new toothbrush, soap, clean socks. it is a very humbling experience.We are blessed to partner with Good Shepherd Church over the years where they have paid for the $7.00 shipping for each box our pack donates!

We also try to support our Troops with letters ,at different times of the year. We hope to find more things every year to let our scouts know that they can serve not only their community but the world,every small act of kindness can move mountains of good!
