Cub Scout Pack 186 - Summit County, CO

Welcome to the ScoutLander home page for Cub Scout Pack 186 in beautiful Summit County, Colorado. We are chartered by the Summit County Elks and are part of the Western Colorado Council, Boys Scouts of America (B.S.A.)- http://wccbsa.org/

Our Pack currently has between 40-45 active scouts that participate in events all throughout the year.   The Pack is comprised of smaller "Den" groups (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos and Arrow of Light) based on age/grade.

Our Pack meetings are usually the 2nd Monday of the month, from September through May and are usually held at either Dillon Community Church or the Elk's Lodge in Silverthorne typically from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm.

Each Den meets twice to three times a month for an hour on dates assigned by the Den Leader.  At these meetings, the Scouts are led through an age appropriate curriculum to advance their Scouting skills and knowledge.

Please note that all Pack and Den Leaders are volunteers who contribute their time and efforts to the growth and development of the Scouts and the Pack.  Each Leader is required to complete appropriate B.S.A. training relevant to their positions. Adult volunteers are always welcome and appreciated.

Of the many programs available to Summit County youth and families, Scouting offers a rich and diverse focus on:  self development, family focus, community involvement and outdoor oriented activities.  The Cub Scout motto, "Do Your Best" is the underlying theme in all that the Scouts do throughout the year.

We welcome you and your scout aged children to join us at a Pack/Den meeting or activity to check out what Cub Scout Pack #186 is all about!

Meetings

Den meetings are typically held weekly or twice a month, generally in the early evening.  Exact meeting times are chosen by each den to suit their individual needs.    It is at these meetings that scouts work towards earning their Tiger/Wolf/Bear/Webelos advancement patch.  Your scout’s book will outline the achievements needed to earn that badge.  A parent is often expected to attend with their scout.

Pack meetings are held once a month and are attended by all the Dens.  Generally the Pack meetings are held at Summit Cove Elementary on the 1st Monday of every month.  Pack meetings allow the boys to share what they’ have learned, receive awards and recognition, and participate in fun activities such as den cheers, songs and skits.A parent is expected to attend with their scout.  Packs don’t formally meet in the summer butthere are summer activities planned, such as scout camps.  Den’s may or may not choose to meet duringthe summer months.

Fundraising

In order to provide all the awards Scouts earn we mustfundraise for our Pack.  We sell popcornin the fall and we have 2 Elk’s Lodge Breakfasts every year.  Each family is required to help withfundraising.  More details regarding thefundraising requirements will be given out in the fall.

BeltLoops and Academic Pins

These items can be earned either at Den Meetings or athome.  Learn how your scout can earn beltloops and academic pins at www.scouting.org/scoutsource/cubscouts/cubscouts/uniformsandawards/sanda.aspx.   Belt loops and pins earned by your scout areawarded at pack meetings.
